Update 11/1 4:00 PM ET: Luna bouncing back from DKA

More in depth ultrasound showed nothing except for fatty liver. So it's still a mystery what triggered this. I asked about pancreatitis and they said the imaging and blood tests didn't really indicate that but they were treating anyway. I was too overwhelmed to ask about the specific test.

How long will pancreatitis show up on the test if we get them to do it later? And even if they don't test, is there any specific treatment for pancreatitis that we need to do moving forward?
Sending a ton of healing vines and white light to help Luna recover from this latest occurrence. She’s a fighter and she knows how much you love her.

Just a quick note although you have your hands full. Since you’ve had the ultrasound done, there is no need to do a specfPL at this time. With concurrent liver inflammation, the specfPL is likely to be elevated due to that. Those organs are all so closely located and aligned in function that inflammation in one can cause the specfPL to increase above normal. The ultrasound has already indicated what you need to know for now.

Personally, I would not recommend a GI Panel unless she has symptoms of IBD when she gets through all this. Save yourself some money unless the symptoms tell you that you need to know what her cobalamin, folate, TLI, and specfPL are. You can always give her vitamin B12 shots to just help her recover and feel a little better. Once things have settled down, if she has vomiting, diarrhea, constipation, etc, then it’s time to think about a GI Panel because some treatments for diarrhea won’t work if the B12 is low.

Sending vines of healing and physical reinforcement Luna’s way.

Have they taken a good look at her teeth and gums?
Gingivitis can be the source of infection that is easily overlooked.

I too recommend the Liver Shake mentioned by @Ella & Rusty & Stu(GA)

Hang in there..

Luna's heart rate is holding steady so far. She has little bursts of energy and stands up and howls, but then stiffens up and falls over. Hopefully it's just from being weak still. They said the injections they gave to bring her back should be out of her system, so maybe that's a sign her numbers are improving. She hasn't made any noises since Thursday.

Next electrolytes test is in 15 minutes. Results in 30.

Thanks very much for the update. I think most of Team Luna has been checking frequently and praying for good news. Continued prayers -- even my husband is now caught up in Luna's situation. That's extra prayers.:bighug:

Good news! Thank you God! Lots of prayers and healing vines from me and my husband for sweet Luna. If she has more energy the potassium level is increasing. We are there with you Luna! You must feel that sweetie. Come on little girl you can do it!

Some good news after a terrible morning. Potassium is up to 2.9, Chloride is up a little too (don't have the paper in front of me) and Phosphorus is .1 away from normal.

They're not feeding through the feeding tube until tomorrow. Apparently her heart rate can drop when the feed through the tube. It's some condition I can't remember the name.

We're not out of the woods yet, but we were driving to the vet this morning thinking she was gone.

I know this is probably in vein, but I have a feeling...could you try bringing some Ff gravy lovers or tuna before they do the tube? I know you tried before, but maybe if she’s feeling better she will eat a bit for you

I'm with everyone else here. Keep fighting Luna...feel the love and healing vines coming from us all.
Feel better little one.
Dan and wife (sorry don't know your name) we are all hugging you.:bighug::bighug:

We needed to come home to refuel and get a quick nap. Heading back in an hour or so. We'll try to get her to eat some of her food. Next electrolytes test is 10:30 PM ET.

It is good you were able to do that. You need to be rested & well to help Luna. So hard to do but SO important. Praying for more good news later :bighug:

Prayers, vines and we'll wishes for Luna. It's good she was awake and sitting after the "crash" it proves she's a fighter. You and your wife need to keep breathing

Reading every post, healing light and energies to Luna, and onward to Dan and wife because this is emotionally and physically exhausting. :bighug::bighug::bighug:

Just got home. She's really sleepy. She wants to get into all of her favorite sleep positions, but the tubes are getting in the way. She's just kind of squatting with her face pressed up against the ground. But it looks like a tired sleep and not a sick sleep...if that makes sense.

She sat up and peed while we were there too. Pawed at the tray and pads they had down. I think she used all of her energy because she was shaking a little bit afterwards. Didn't last too long and she settled back in to sleep. We made them check her out too.

They took the heart monitor off because she was stable all day. I'm amazed that happened after the morning she had. And they were probably tired of reconnecting it. Luna kept wiggling and pulling them off.

The next electrolytes test results should be back within the hour. I'll post once I get them.

Feeding tube starts tomorrow morning as long as she gets the greenlight from the vet.

Have you ever tried to sleep while in a hospital? I don't know how they ever expect you to get better when they are poking and prodding and waking you what feels like every hour :p I feel ya, Luna!

The nutrition that she is going to be able to get through the tube should go very far in restoring her strength as well. Fingers crossed that she continues to improve. :bighug:

Thank you for the update with all you have going on. Excellent news on her potassium and chloride.

It will certainly help her to get some sustenance through the tube as the dextrose drip can’t maintain them as food does. Calories will help immensely.

There’s a good chance they will send her home with the etube and you might want to have a kitty kollar on hand. It makes a world of difference.

Sending tons and tons of vines and white healing light.

Luna is remarkable as are you & your wife! I hope you get some rest & today is the start of the feeding. There is nothing like some food to perk Luna up!

Prayers for another day of progress :bighug:!!

Hoping today is a major turning point for Luna, we're all rooting for her and sending tons of love and healing vines. :bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug:
