it is with great sadness I tell you all that Sammy was put down today at 4pm. I haven’t updated his spreadsheet but his blood glucose had been under 120 for the past couple of days. No insulin given. Ketone strips were used and all showed no sign of any. We believe it was his kidney disease that caused him to deteriorate but we honestly don’t know the exact cause.
He refused to eat and began stumbling, meowing loudly, and overall seemed weak. I took him to the emergency room where they discovered he had a 94°F temp and told us his quality of life was declining. We made the tough choice to end his suffering.
I’ve had him for almost 16 full years since he was 4 months old. I’m devastated to say the least.
I have a bunch of syringes, insulin, blood glucose monitor + strips, food, ketone strip tests, and leftover mirataz. I don’t want this to go to waste if really like to help another cat if possible. Does anybody know if it’s possible to donate these things and where? I’m located in the US specifically NJ.
Thank you all for your help through our short diabetes journey.
