My Milo is refusing to eat the Hills Prescription M/D wet food anymore, he is eating the dry food only. I tried sprinkling freeze dried chicken and crushed dry food but nothing.
He is still drinking and urinating a lot but he has been chasing his toy from time to time and is still very social.
What can I do about the wet food?

This is not an unusual situation. Many cats get tired of M/D. The quality of the food is not particularly good and frankly, there's nothing "prescription" in the food. In fact, there was a class action suit against the pet food manufacturers (which they lost) for calling their foods "prescription" when there was nothing in them warranting a prescription label. Your paying a premium price for a low quality cat food that has nothing diabetes related in its contents.

You can feed Milo any canned food that is under 10% carbohydrate. Most members feed their cats in the 5% range. This is a food chart of most canned foods available in the US. Many members feed their kitties either Fancy Feast or Friskies pate style foods. There are other, higher quality foods that are low in carbs that you can choose from.

Is it also normal for his stool to be soft only after he eats a bit of the wet food? It's normal when he is eating the dry but as soon as he eats the wet he has really soft and smelly poops. He doesn't have any ketones, I've been testing for that.

Both my cats had some super stinky softish poops when they transitioned to wet (Faraday and my civvie). It was thankfully temporary!

Since I am living paycheck to paycheck I can't really afford the really high protein wet food so would the FRISKIES Classic Pate Variety bought in bulk from a warehouse store be a good option?
I am thankful that he still shows interest in food in general, god knows my baby is underweight at 6.44lbs. He is still chasing his feather chaser toy so I have some hope that he will be okay.

Friskies is used by a lot of folks here!

I alternate that with some Special Kitty brand pate from Walmart (it's less expensive than Friskies, when they actually have it in stock), which is not the highest quality, but is low carb!

The surf and turf pate or the classic pate?
