Hello All,
I have a previously OTJ kitty. He is now on PZI .40 dillution insulin. I am using the 3/10 syringes alongside the conversion chart. Shadow's numbers have been steadily rising in the past month and I can't seem to figure out what to do to help him. I know I must be consistent and have just raised his insulin. How long do you wait to raise again? He has been on .4u and .6u for the past 5 weeks. He is not regulating. I have attached his spreadsheet, can any eyes please look over it and offer insight. Any advice is VERY much appreciated. Thank you so much for you ongoing support.

Sincerely,
Jeanice and Shadow confused_cat

Hi Jeanice! The amount of time to wait at a dose can vary, usually somewhere in the 4 or 5 day range. Faster if you have high #s and a clearcut case of needing more insulin. Sometimes a little slower if you need time to get more data or to sort out confusing numbers. In most cases, no need to wait longer than 5 days or a week tops.

You might want to get your SS into Google docs (instructions on the Tech forum). I had to save yours to my computer to open it... not sure how many people will actually do that. (?)

I'd probably go ahead and try 0.8u.

If you can get more mid-cycle data (I think I've said that like 6 times now today? is it me? lol, guess that's today's theme!) that will help you figure things out. I would try to get in a spot test every couple days and vary the times (like you are already, but maybe a few more here & there if you can), and if you can it would help to get in a full or partial curve now & then. Maybe test every 3 hours one day, or if you can't do that, try for a couple spot tests in the same cycle that will help fill out the picture of what is going on.

Most cats seem to need at least 1u and usually more to get regulated so don't be discouraged. Your numbers are actually pretty good for what is a pretty low dose, so hopefully with another dose increase or two you will start seeing better #s. Sorry you had to come back from the Falls .

Hi Janice,

Sorry I missed this yesterday, I just responded to you post in health this morning, asking you to come over here.

I had the same problem with your spreadsheet.

What Joanna said.

I saw your post on Health so I decided to drop in. I'm not a regular poster on PZI and it's been almost a year since we used it, but we did use BCP PZI and Idexx before that.

When do you feed your kitty and can is it canned only or low carb, high protein?

Your cat is off steroids now? If so, how long? I scanned your previous posts and see you had a steroid induced FD. Is the condition that caused the need for steroids under control?
