has anyone else had problems with Ulsanic (sucralfate) causing their cat to vomit. I am at my wit's end trying to find something in my country which i can use to line the stomach to prevent ulcers from throwing up. I've given the Ulsanic 3x now and each time the cat throws up. If i just give the Maxolon (metoclopramide hydrochloride) there is no vomiting but that is just to prevent nausea and vomiting, I want something to help with the excess stomach acid??
If you suggest a trade name, please let me know what the active ingredient is because trade names differ from country to country. TIA.

Famotidine (Pepcid) 1/4 of a 10 mg tablet.
Place in oral syringe. Draw in some water. Dissolve. Squirt in cat's mouth, pointing syringe to the back and side of the mouth to avoid aspiration.

For ideas on nausea and vomiting, which frequently happen with renal disease cats, check Tanya's Feline CRF site. See for example, Slippery Elm Bark (SEB), as one possibility to sooth the stomach.

thanks, i am trying to locate SEB, seems that might be the kindest on her stomach..
and making enquiries about famotidine right now. :thumbup

just spoken to pharmacist.. no famotidine, is there something that is exactly the same perhaps?

Check with local vet and then pharmacy on locally available antihistamines.

I know that the antacid liquid aluminum hydroxide can be given in renal cats, so discuss with your vet & see if pharmacy can get it.

Aloe vera juice has been helpful for some cats with GI upsets.

If vomiting happens at other times without the meds, note that vomiting can be provoked by food intolerances, too.
