I am sorting thru and rearranging my NK operation. Never saw these before. Valid? No half unit marks. May have 100 or so...you can have them for the shipping fee and it will go towards NK. And you can also donate a buck or 3 while your there.

Those must be the special ProZinc insulin syringes. http://www.prozinc.us/understanding_insulin.aspx

It only goes up to 12 units unlike other brands of U40 insulin syringes.

Yep that's it. Just packed a box with 112 in there. Air tight!

Also got a box packed 100 u100's 31 gauge BD brand ready to go. Takers? Practically handing them out! NK is trying to raise funds for it's own self, even if only 7 or 10 dollars (includes shipping)

That's the same syringe that I got with my all-in-one kit from the vet. It included the insulin, syringes and a handy-dandy disposal box that the vet's office will dispose of for me.

If nobody else has claimed them yet, I'd be delighted to take them off your hands!

OK and done!

Just after I clicked 'send' I realized you probably need my full name and address. I got so super excited about it I had a super "DUH" moment!

If no one takes them by midnight I'm throwing them away ;-)
Seriously, I have to organize my space here.
I have 2 boxes of u40's to go.
I have 2 boxes of u100's to go.
Nothing has 1/2 unit marks.
31 gauge, nice slim comfy fit...

Mystery,

Now we finally understand what syringes you are using. First time
I have ever seen these. Something to be aware of.

i spoke with Lisa (mystery) on the phone and PLEASE pay attn to her SS which I hope will go up tomorow. I think Beauregard REALLY wants to go OTJ and she is not understanding rebound (how could she, just a newbie) he BOTTOMS OUT at +1. Please lets pay alot of attention tothis one.

I think a Notification post should go out to Community, Health, and PZI ISG
about these new type of syringes.

We were having a lot of trouble understanding Mystery's initial posts because
we could not understand what kind of syringes she was using.

Could you describe these syringes a bit more ?
Are they shorter, overall, than 'standard' syringes ?
Needle gauge ? Needle Length ? Brand ?

I don't see the words "For U-40 Insulin" in the picture but
maybe it is hidden.

I agree. FDMB members should know about these new 12 unit insulin syringes.

UltiCare apparently now has U40 insulin syringes for 12 unit or less: http://www.americandiabeteswholesal...zmam=69792428&zmas=1&zmac=4&zmap=SY5751507263 U40 3/10 cc 29 guage 1/2 inch needle

Perhaps someone should contact ProZinc and ask for the specs on their insulin syringes?

The 12 unit insulin syringe was designed to be used with ProZinc, a U40 insuiln, so it is a U40 insulin syringe.

The PROZINC syringe
When you give your cat a PROZINC injection, make sure you use the correct type of syringe. PROZINC is a U-40 insulin, meaning that there are 40 units of insulin per milliliter (ml) of product. That is why PROZINC must be injected with a U-40 syringe. This is very important because using another type of syringe will deliver the wrong dose.

But I agree that there should be a U40 label on the insulin syringe, if there isn't one already, so that someone using U100 insulin doesn't mistakenly use the wrong insulin syringes.

The link works - Sue just tested it!! I think (hope?) Beauregard is doing really, really well! Thanks so much, Lori and Sue!

Lisa, Mr. Beauregard is going OTJ.....keep up the low carb. He will ALWAYS be a diabetic, hopefully just a diet controlled one. :-D No one deserves it more than he does. I cannot forget that horror story you told me....

Lisa,

Now that you have a spreadsheet would you start a new thread so people can see how you are doing. You could get lost at the end of this thread.

Do you really think so? I don't want to get too excited, but the numbers DO seem to be telling a really good tale, don't they?!?!

I know. It was just awful awful awful for the first two years, Lori. Not only that, but it was AWFUL. A nightmare. But, he made it through, and now despite a lot of scarring in the one hip area, and not being able to twist to that side very well for grooming or anything, he's able to run and jump and play (and scratch and bite!) just like any other kitteh! The litter box issues haven't returned either, thank goodness. And his adorability factor, just 'cuz he went through so much when he was a youngling, seems to have increased exponentially every year since!

OK, I'll start one in the PZI section!
