maddie was only at 197 so I didn't give her insulin. I'm going to get u100s now but what's the conversion?

Since I couldn't give insulin I'm not doing her curve. I'll do it Sunday when I'm off work.

Here is the picture I mentioned on your FB post, Sarah:

I think it clicked for you but just in case...

First line of the left is .2 units of Prozinc
First line on the right is .4 units of Prozinc
Second line on the left is .6, etc....

Make sure you chart the numbers in terms of the U40 dose. I.e record .2 if you draw to the first line.

I just started using U100's for Leo too. The U-40 syringes the vet sold me have 1/2" very thick needles. I really don't like them.

I also did a sanity test.
10 units of U-40 will be extracted as "25" in the U-100 syringe. So I took a used needle from each. Pulled water into each, then compared them side by side after I squirted them onto plastic. They had the exact same size. Then I drew the output from one into the other.

I wanted to be 100% sure. Leo got his first PZI shot using U-100 tonight. He's doing great.

Sarah, next time you get a number like 197 (so close to 200 ) you can stall. Wait 20 minutes without feeding and retest. You want to be sure the number is going up, not down, and 200+. Then shoot a smidge less than the shot the cycle before.

Skipping is sometimes necessary, but if you can avoid it, it's best to keep some insulin on board so she stays in healing numbers.

Ok! This morning she was 360 so I gave her 1 unit and an hour and a half later she was at 310. She wasn't a happy camper this morning. Whenever it's high like that she is so grumpy. She jerked her head as soon as I pricked her and then it was bleeding bad and blood splattered everywhere. I was mopping my kitchen floor at 5:30 AM. It's been a great day so far haha. I told her if she keeps that up we will have to get her some diamond studs. She was in a much better mood after she ate.
