Oh gosh...

I just realized I bought U-100 syringes trying to give 3 units of insulin but only pulling it to 3 on the syringe which means Im giving him a lot less insulin than 3 units right?

So I should be pulling the syringe to 7.5 if he's on caninsulin with u 100 syringe? What if I already gave him up to the 3 mark on the syringe this morning? I was doing an insulin curve last night wondering why nothing was changing. Should I give him more? It's been 2 hours since I gave it. Oh boy :(

Here's the conversion chart for using U40 insulins with U100 syringes (very helpful!):

Sorry you didn't get a reply till now. I hope you didn't give any more insulin (please post to confirm that you didn't give more insulin - it's really important for people responding to your thread to know that). No matter what happens with the dose measurement or with a hiccup when you're giving the injection (e.g. a fur shot) the rule is not to give another dose of insulin until the next dose is due. (It would be very, very dangerous to attempt to do otherwise.)

I haven't given anymore insulin just the first incorrect dose I gave this morning

Correct, you put up a U40 insulin to the 7 1/2 unit mark on a U100 syringe to get 3 units of the a U40 insulin.
With Caninsulin/Vetsulin you can give the remiander of the 3 real units at two hours since Vetsulin/Caninsulin only lasts 8-10 hours. I myself would just pull up the U40 insulin to the 4 unit marking on a U100 syringe and inject that

If you have half unit markings on a U-100 syringe, every tick mark equals 0.2 units of a U-40 insulin.
That is because there are only 40 units per mL, or 40% of the concentration of a U-100 insulin.
