TYLER'S JOURNEY #14

Sorry didn't respond sooner. Just catching up on some stuff and I never got an alert to that particular message. Seems to be more more tags and alerts not coming through than there use to be.

Yes you had mentioned most of that before. Now I know though that the ENT appt is next week. Let me know how that goes.

Don't think of yourself as Scrooge. I too could care less about the holidays. I've been lucky up till now because my SIL with Down Syndrome has been spending the holidays with her boyfriend's family so I would have Easter, Thanksgiving and Christmas all to myself but I do go visit with close friends on our Boxing Day (day after Christmas). Unfortunately, the boyfriend's family is moving out of town in a couple of weeks so I am now saddled with SIL and somewhat forced to feed her just to shut her up. She is all about holidays and FUN but has no idea that it is not fun slaving over a stove and then dealing with her total lack of appreciation of any of it. Thus my intention to possibly take her out for dinner this weekend. She just wants free food....doesn't give a darn about the company and often falls asleep while visiting. I warned her years ago that if she fell asleep here again, I'd be taking her home immediately. Boyfriend has managed to keep her somewhat awake here since but he won't be here to do that anymore so we may be having a rather short visits.

No problem getting back. this sounds awful but just feed her and put her out in the car to sleep lol. Just put a TV Dinner in front of her to eat, nice and easy. How is she related to you? Who does she live with @MrWorfMen's Mom

SIL is my late husband's sister who lives on her own with government supports in a condo apt. we purchased for her. She was spoiled rotten by her parents and we inherited a very self centred young woman who though medium high functioning, has been brain washed by a mother who felt so sorry for her she never tried to promote her independence and essentially made her expect everyone to do everything for her. She is the laziest person I have ever met and treats her support workers like they are her maids. Wants to live independently but refuses to do anything on her own including any housework. Sad situation to be sure and I unfortunately am her only living relative.

Wow how old she. You must have a lot of patience to deal with her. I would never be able to do it. She needs a good swift kick in the you know what @MrWorfMen's Mom

You said it all. I was the one who promoted her independent living, let her try it out on a temp basis and she initially took to it like a duck to water so we made it a permanent thing but over time she has determined it's a lot more work than she is willing to put into it because absolutely everything was done for her by her parents. I had a great relationship with her at one time but now she thinks I am the wicked witch because I set the bar of expectations just a little higher than her parents. I know what she can and cannot do and expect her to live up to her abilities. That has never been done before. She is almost 47 yrs old so changing her now is pretty much impossible. She has no idea how good she's got it and I may have to pull the plug and find alternate more supervised living arrangements in the not too distant future.

I don't blame you for maybe having to find alternate living arrangements. You should be able to live your life in peace . Sure she's spoiled because of her parents. Dumb question her parents are deceased.
Just tested Tyler @+2.25 and he is only 145. I'm sure the insulin went in or could it be he will drop later @MrWorfMen's Mom

Yup her parents are both deceased. I've been her caregiver for the last 16 years since her Mom passed on because her Dad just couldn't deal with her and for much of that time I also was dealing with both her elderly father and my mother. Between them all, DH and I had precious little opportunity to fulfill our wants/dreams and SIL has become more of handful with the passing of her father and her brother (my husband). I've done my fair share of family duty and frankly my patience with her is non existent at this point in time.

Tyler will probably drop lower. He usually has a dip in the later part of the cycle too.

I hope so , but @+2.25 this has never happened. I'll see later.
That's a shame that you and DH couldn't do what you wanted to do. I completely understand how you feel. At this point I would just plug the plug and let someone else deal with her. You have done so very much for such a long time now and I think you should be free of her and live your own life and not have to deal with her. Sorry if I sound cruel @MrWorfMen's Mom

There is no rhyme or reason why they do what they do sometimes. Perhaps he heard something you didn't that got him perked up a bit and caused some BG elevation around the time you tested. Our cats are hunters so anything that spurs their attention or gets their adrenalin rushing will cause BG elevation. Tyler is sitting in good range most of the time and rarely gets really elevated above normal to any degree. You could try upping the dose to a fat 0.5u today and see what he does as long as you can monitor.

Oh rats I already shot the 0.5 on the line, we will see what happens today .
Are you done baking? @MrWorfMen's Mom

So maybe tomorrow try upping the dose a teensy bit if he still isn't dropping.
I wasn't baking although a number of folks' endeavours in the last couple of days had my mouth watering. Did you see the gorgeous pumpkin pie AmandaE made yesterday? Quite the masterpiece!
