My sucre chat George is still with us, but I had to let her best friend and brother Tyger go yesterday. He continued to lose weight and could not be medicated any more. He was the best snuggle bunny a mom could ask for.

I gave George her mitazapersomething because I heard it was an antidepressant on top of an appetite stimulant. She's been meowing like crazy and I've been giving her food, but she wanders around the apartment looking for her brother. Please keep her in your kitty prayers. She's pretty much OTJ, and I'm hoping the steroids they gave her for her intestinal cancer doesn't cause her diabetes to come back. (She's not responding to them well, anyway, so I don't know how much longer I will continue to give them to her.)

Thank you to everyone who has helped me out on this board in the past. This whole situation has been a lot more bearable because of you.

Sending purrs and prayers.
You said you gave Mirtazapine. One common side effect is vocalizing. Did you give about 3.75 mg? That is the standard dose but is too much for many cats.

Sending many many cyber hugs to you. I am so sorry for your loss. Tyger is flying free now, whole and healthy over the Rainbow Bridge. rb_icon

I am so sorry for your loss. I read in your profile that you have had Tyger and George since they were both kittens in 1998, and that you had struggled with allergies for many years before you were finally able to adopt these precious two. Though it is heartbreaking to lose your Perfect Cat Tyger, you went out of your way to give him many, many years of love and happiness -- and for that, I know he is grateful. Tyger is with you and George now in spirit. Prayers and hugs to both you and George.

I'm so sorry to hear about Tyger. There has been just too much sadness and loss lately.

I hope that you have much more time with George. It must be doubly hard that she has cancer and you are fighting that now too. Just remember that, while being off insulin is wonderful, treating diabetes is the "easy" part when battling other diseases, like cancer.

Give her extra loving now while she is grieving for her brother.

(((hugs))) for you and (((pats))) for George.

If 3.75 is 1/4 a tablet, then yes, that's what I have been giving her. She's much quieter now that it has worn off and def sad. I'll try half the dose later.

Thank you everyone for your kind words. It has been a rough week.
