I purchased some Tuna Flakes for Baxter as a treat after testing...etc. Are they really something I should be giving him? If so how much? They say that are nautral with nothing added. I gave him a little this afternoon after testing (#159) & now he is at #342, 6 hrs apart. I was just trying to figure if the flakes had anything to do with the increase.

Thank you

Jenn,
What is the brand name of those flakes? If they are just freeze dried tuna, they should be fine, but if you can tell us more, we can look them up. Did Baxter eat on his normal schedule today, or was there food besides the flakes between +6 and the PMPS?

This is what the can reads. Planet Petco (purchased from Petco). Savory Tuna Flakes. 100% natural shaved tuns. No preservatives, additives or food coloring.
Crude Protein min 68%
Crude Fat min .46%
Crude FIber max 2%
Moisture max 21%.
They are flakey like a fish food. I couldn't find them on the Petco website to paste a link.

Yes he ate at his normal times 8 & 8. No food in between just those flakes. It doesn't say freeze dried on them.

I found this, which I think is what you have?

Tuna flakes aka bonito flakes are fine for diabetics  As with any treat, limit it to a few pieces per day.

If you have an Asian supermarket nearby, you can buy a huge bag of tuna flakes for just a few dollars, much more economical than those little expensive containers at the pet store.

Here are other popular treats for diabetics: http://www.felinediabetes.com/FDMB/viewtopic.php?f=14&t=9172
