(((((((Jennifer & Tucker))))))) ... Oh no, this sounds so scary! Sending tons of positive thoughts and healing vibes ... praying that precious Tucker will be o.k. soon!! jenn and sabrina

As Jenn was putting Tucker in the car, he vomited up the freeze dried chicken treats her DH had given him the night before. Right now he's getting fluids and xrays-- they're thinking he may be blocked (he has IBD and pancreatitis). Blood is being taken for labs.

It's still touch-and-go...

Dear Jennifer,

Sending tons of thoughts, hugs and prayers to you and Tucker!!! I hope he will be okay!

OMG, poor Tucker and poor Jennifer. Sending positive prayers and vines to both of them. Come on Tucker, be ok!! (((Jennifer & Tucker))). Gosh, Jen, you must be so sick...I'm so sorry...hang in there

I posted an update on a new thread, he has Hypokalemia. Low potassium, apparently that can come on fast and cause the acute episode that we had this morning. He's starting potassium supplements and steroids. Steroids for his IBD/brain thingy and hopefully to help him gain weight. He lost another 1/2 pound.

Thank you all for your well wishes, I know Tucker can feel them.

wow. do not like coming home and reading stuff like this. I skimmed to the bottom for an update and glad it is something treatable, do they know what caused it

The vet said diabetic cats can get this because of the increased urine. I had no idea, of all the FDs I've had this is a first for me. I just called for an update, they say he's resting comfortably and looks more alert. I cannot wait to take him home tonight.

The vet also said his potassium was not low before, over the years he's had numerous blood work ups and this was the first time it's ever been low.

Wow.. I knew CRF cats could get low potassium, but never thought about diabetics too! Makes sense though if they drink & pee a lot. Cuddles was on a potassium supplement because of the fluids she got for her CRF. When she was low, she was very lethargic.. like it took a lot to just hold up her head.

Please keep an eye on it.. too little is dangerous, but so is too much. We had to do bloodwork more often, especially to check her potassium levels & see if the supplement was just enough for her. (I believe we used Tumil-K.. was a powder. I'd mix it into a little bit of baby food every day, and she'd eat it up! It was her special treat since you don't want the other cats getting into it.)

((( jen )))

heart was pounding there --- til I got to the most recent update.

glad they found the problem and are treating.

I agree as it reminds me how fragile our babies are but I am so glad that things are looking better. Still, lots of prayers, hugs, and ear scratches to both of you right now.

Hi Jennifer,

How is Tucker doing tonight? Hope your handsome orange boy behaves himself and gets well quickly! Our furbabies give us so many scares, that's for sure! I am thinking of you and Tucker and your other furbabies and hope they will all be stable and let you get some rest.

Talk to you soon!
HUGS,
Jean and Charcoal (GA)
