My 4 month old kitten has liquipoo from eating Merlin's food (I assume). I've noticed that last couple days she's been eating his Soulistic and Wellness. She eats FF kitten. She seems to like his fuds better. This morning I kept her locked up while he ate so she couldn't get any. I could continue to do this daily but he doesn't always eat his food in one sitting. She's locked up again in my room all day today so she will not have any access to his food, only hers. I guess at night I'll have to do the same until he's done eating. This could also happen to him if he eats her food. That's all I friggin' need. She's definitely a grazer and does not eat all at once. I'm not sure how to manage this and let them spend time together. :!: :?: :!:

I'm concerned that she's sick and wondering if I should take her in. I'm at work now so I don't know if she's still got it. She has an appointment in a week. The first liquipoo was last night in the middle of the night - twice. She's not *acting* sick.

Any ideas on what I should do? I have left over metronitazole from Merlin's last stomach sickness, I could add fiber to her food, I could give her slippery elm. Since she's a kitten I don't know how serious or not this is. I've also written to her foster mother. Thank God for that woman and all of you!
 
It's a tricky one! I've had to keep my civvie cat and my sugar cat more or less separate during feeding time. They're both grazers and like to nibble as and when they please, the only system I've been able to figure out is to a) feed them at the same time, but keep an eye out that Morky (the diabetic cat) doesn't get into Mrs Treacle's (civvie) food and move the bowl if he starts going for it. Also, he generally is kept in his own room at bedtime with the door closed and same for when I'm away at work, so they can have access to their own food during those times. It's a juggling act, but as I figure it, neither cat is going to starve and as long as Morky gets to eat in peace when he's getting insulin soon, then it more or less works out.

Re liquid kitten poo, it's definitely scary, the wee one I had last year had a few bouts of it with no particular reason, always seemed right in himself, but I gave him small doses of animal dioaherea pills and that seemed to firm things up a bit, but it gets really bad and she seems poorly, then definitely get her to the vet, if for nothing else than to double check she's not dehydrated etc.
 
Morky and Mrs Treacle are such cute names! Thanks for your help. I guess I'm going to have to watch them and keep them separated during feeding.
 
Maybe take in a specimen for analysis - sometimes wormers don't clear everything, and if the specific wormer isn't active against all parasites, you may need something different.
 
I also suggest taking in a stool sample. My fat happy 4mo old kittens started getting diarrhea about 5 days after I got them I thought it was from change in diet. When I brought them in for their new kitten appointment the vets wanted a stool sample as well. My guys turned out to have coccidia. Most likely came to me with it, it has a 13 day incubation period. I guess its pretty common in kittens. They got Albon for about a week and everything cleared up. I think if diarrhea from any cause goes on too long you can run into problems pretty fast with kittens.
