OK, since Cedric's numbers have been normal since 5/22 (fingers crossed that this keeps up), I want to pull back to testing him once per day. Which do you think will be better - am before feeding him, or pm around 5-6pm? I am trying to get him on 4 small meals a day, and have ordered an auto feeder to assist with that...

Thoughts appreciated!

Dearest doombuggy, and, apparently not so sweet Cedric,

I am in awe of his spread sheet. I dream green... Yet, have been blessed and cursed with two furry pancreases that require/required insulin... It is what it is or was...

Personally? I would continue testing him am and pm for another week or so. You know, just to make sure. Peace of mind is such an incredible gift...

You and Cedric have come this far. Go the distance...

Much love and countless encouraging hugs for you, Cedric, and your mom,
Deb and Nikki -- and, Giz, forever dancing in my heart...

I think Cedric is giving you a dirty look! He doesn't care for "thr poke(s)" too much. His ear actually looks better today, so I guess that big dot on there yesterday wa a bruise and not a blood clot. I got him on the 3rd poke and out came a BIG drop. Of course he had to shake his head while I was putting the meter down and wack! right on the sliding glass door near the weather stripping. There's still a tiny bit there that I can't seem to get off, the bugger!

I think the change in food type, no dry, and trying to space the meals out to 4 small ones is really helping. On top of the fact that I think we caught it pretty early. I noticed him drinking a lot of water in late March (note he was peeing alot too, so I knew he wasn't having a kidney issue like Midora did in 2005). He had been scheduled for his annual shots a week after we moved, so When I mentioned this to the vet, they ran the tests and boom. So he might have been disfunctional for a few weeks and with the insulin, change in diet and some more exercise (more space & stairs in the new house), we were able to help.

I keep praying for assistance for him and hope that he does well. I was having a conversation with one of our artists yesterday at the shop (I work in Disney's Days of Christmas at the Downtown Disney Marketplace, and we personalize ornaments there) and she is diabetic, so she was asking me about how I test him, give him insulin, etc.

If you are only going to test once a day, then I would vary the test time, so that you get a good idea of how he's doing, this includes before and after meal time.

Wonderful greens! You should probably be ok to test once a day now, and I agree with varying the times throughout each day. You should test each day until you cross the two week mark. After that you can go to testing every few days, and then to once a week. Eventually you work your way to testing once a month, or whenever you remember
