? Trey's BG numbers

Trey had his bg curve done at the vet yesterday. She suggested I go up to 1.25 U. Even though he was started 8/18 on Lantus he has only been consistently at the 1 unit level for 5 days. I suggested we wait to 7 -10 days before increasing. She agreed. I'd like your opinion on this. The numbers on the spreadsheet are from my Relion meter. The vet used her accuchek & my relion to get the numbers for comparisson. FYI Relion ran 60 points below the accuchek consistently. Trey's Spreadsheet is published & should be available for you to see if I did it right.

With SLGS you do a curve after 7 days before increasing unless you get a reading under 90. With TR you could increase now. So I would not wait 10 days. Comparing meters will just frustrate you. Every meter can be 20% off at any given point. Look for trends.

My opinion is slightly different from tiffmaxee's. Today's cycle is the 10th cycle @ 1u bid and you've already seen a 143. I'd hold the 1u dose for a total of 14 cycles (7 days) to see how low it'll take Trey before making any dose adjustments... no matter which dosing method you end up choosing.

Good job on getting your spreadsheet up and running!

Like tifmaxee mentioned, meters are allowed a 15 - 20% variance. In addition, historically, ReliOn meters have been known to run a little lower than some other meters while the Accu-Chek meters are known to run a bit higher (closer to lab values) than other meters calibrated for humans. Don't worry about it or you'll drive yourself crazy! It's not a big deal. Just know that her meter will run a bit higher than yours. Typically, the lower the numbers, the closer they'll run to each other.

Welcome to the FDMB... hope to see you posting often!
