Hi guys,

Hefner our broken diabetic. No insulin needed since he got home from the shelter. He is a happy active energetic kitty with a great appetite for low carb wet food. They were blindly shooting 2 units of humalin. No wonder all he did was sleep and wouldn't eat.

I'd love to give him treats but he's not eating the purebites chicken. What do you guys give your kitties that can't have kibble/temptations for a treat?

Around here treats are a mixed bag, bites of raw or boiled chicken, boiled salad shrimp, bites of water packed tuna, water packed sardines, catnip, and freeze dried duck jerky (originally for the dog, but I cut it into kitty sized pieces and they go nuts for it).

Cedric gets Evo Wild Cravings (I have herring & salmon) and Drs Foster & Smith 100% natural chicken treats (dehydrated chicken). I usually give him one of each after doing his BG check.

We give all kinds of different treats on top of the freeze dried stuff.

Mainly my husband sits down to dinner and then holds court. He surrounds himself with all the cats and shares whatever meat is on his plate.

Me, being a vegetarian, never have any friends when I'm eating

So, my cats get chicken, turkey, beef, lots of deli meats he likes to share too. We do keep some grain free dry and give out a kibble or two occasionally.

Great ideas!!! Thank you. I bet he'll love a few of these.

   I'm a vegetarian also. The dog still begs for peas, carrots and simulated meat. Makes me wonder if what I'm eating is "simulated" or not
