I found that the Merrick Backcountry freeze dried salmon treats for cats has:
Ingredients
Salmon, Whitefish, Dried Peas, Dried Potatoes, Gelatin, Salt, Mixed Tocopherols (preservative).
Guaranteed Analysis
Crude protein (min.) 49.00%, Crude fat (min.) 10.00%, Crude fiber (max.) 3.00%, Moisture (max.) 6.00%
So you have peas, potatoes, gelatin and salt. I don't know if gelatin is good or bad, but what's the point for a cat? I would find a low carb alternative if you can. The Pure Bites Freeze Dried Chicken is better, but if you go that way, buy the big bag for dogs. It's the same thing, just bigger pieces and you can break them down. The larger bag is less cost per ounce. Small pieces of boiled chicken breast or even thigh is good, a bit of tuna, or if your cat likes tuna, then bonito flakes that you can get at any Asian food store. Lots of options out there and it might really help the testing process if Comet gets rewarded and comes to realize this isn't all a bad thing.
