Our cat Indy has been managed quite well with Vetsulin for three years. I came to this site today because we're freaking out due to Friday's announcement that Vetsulin is being discontinued completely now. We're nervous about "transitioning." Do we have to give him part of one product and part of another for a certain period? Do the "lucky few" who have good luck with Vetsulin always do as well or better on the other products?

You do not have to do half and half. You can just switch from one insulin to the next. Finish up the Vetsulin and start the new insulin.

You will want to research about the other insulins and get some advice on the starting dose. If I were you, I would check out the insulin support groups and see which insulin might best suit your cat - Lantus, Levemir or PZI. I post in the PZI forum and know we already have a thread of someone who is thinking about switching. Reading some of the posts on all the forums will help as will reading the stickies, which have information about each insulin, how it works and how to care for it etc. viewforum.php?f=5

Thanks for the link to the other thread. I was finding myself a little overwhelmed when I first arrived last night.
