Hi everybody! Happy Canada Day to all my fellow Canadians ! It's hard to believe that our wonderful country is 145 years old today. I remember so well our 100th birthday. I was in elementary school and we had to preform the CA-NA-DA song for our May Day celebrations that year. Boy am I getting old.

I'm sorry it's been so long since I was last here. Life has been extremely busy. Patience is now 3 1/2 months old and it has been quite the experience getting used to having a new born in the house again. She's a good baby though - a joy to have around. She has brought so much joy and hope into my son's life. He is so much more like his old self (more on him later). The boys have adapted very well to having the baby in the house. Malachi is her Guardian as he was and still is with Ayanna. It's so sweet to watch him. When she's awake he's always by her side except when he's trying to escape out the door for a Walk About. I'm still trying to break him of that habit. It's so hard especially now that Simmer has finally arrived. Rocky as always just does his own thing. He loves the girls but to be honest he loves me more. He's my snuggle bunny and always will be.

Health wise the boys are doing OK. Malachi's Asthma seems to be under pretty good control but it still remains a real struggle to give him his inhaler. He fights it every time. Rocky turned 15 back in May. He finally had his dental and it went well. His Renal values are staying very stable- always a bit high but not getting any higher thank God. He gave me a real scare thought the week after the Dental. I came home one morning to little biles of kitty vomit all over the house -mostly straight bile and no Rocky. I finally found him in my closet vomiting into my shoe. I grabbed him and off to the vet we went. He even vomited up some blood in his carrier on the way there. Poor baby. Doug was stumped as to what was wrong and sent him home with Cerenia and Sulcrate. The next day he was fine and has been good since. What the Heck!

We finally have an official diagnosis for my son after what seems like a forever search- well we started questioning things almost 10 years ago when his symptoms first started. The second geneticist that we saw is certain that he has Ehlers- Danlos Syndrome Type 3 (Hypermobility Type) which is what we thought he has. It is the cause of all the joint pain he has. Treatment is solely supportive as we knew but hopefully now he will finally get the help he needs. His doctors are still pushing to put him on Methadone for his pain but he refuses of course. He never leaves the house now without his cane. Patience has a 50/50 chance of having EDS as well- we won't know for sure until she's older. While we were there the Geneticist spent a bit of time going over my history and checked me over and feels that I am the carrier and have a mild form of EDS as well. That has been kind of hard to deal with knowing that I passed this rotten disease to my son and possibly my granddaughter but we deal and motor on .

My daughter continues to struggle. One crisis after another. We try and shelter Ayanna from it all as best we can.

So today is my baby Tori's 16th birthday. Her second at the Bridge. Not a day goes by that I don't think of her I miss her so much. There's not as many crying spells but they still hit me when I least expect it. I bet there is going to be quite a party at the Bridge tonight. Chef Stu must be very busy getting the feast prepared complete with the famous Cinnamon Birthday cake that he and Mannie first made on Tori's last birthday here. That party had to be one of the best ever. I will never forget it. Tori had just started her chemo for the Lymphoma. The love you folks showed us that day and all the time til she passed will never be forgotten. Thank you again for that. Tonight as you celebrate Canada Day lift your glass for my beautiful little girl. Happy Birthday Sweet Sixteen!!

Hey Kitties Malachi and Rocky here. We just wanted to invite you to our house tonight for a Canada Day Party and a Sweet Sixteen Party for Tori. We've got the backyard all set up and around midnight we'll go see the fireworks. OK? See you there. Who knows maybe we'll get to See Tori through the Veil and all the rest of our GAs for a minute or two. Wouldn't that be great.

Thank you for sharing. We will never forget you and Tori here. I pray you can better deal with the health issues now that you have a more definitive diagnosis.

I too often picture all of our precious GAs at the Bridge, having an incredible time together. It is so hard not to miss their physical presence though...

It's good to hear from you and to hear about your family. It sounds like the kids and grandkids are doing well and the kitties keep making you smile. (They certainly make me smile.)

I always love seeing Tori's photo on the FDMB calendar. Stop back again soon.

I was just thinking about you the other day, Barb. It is good to see your update. I know where Bear Man will be celebrating Canada Day tonight!

Hi Barb,
What a lovely report, and Rusty thanks Rocky and Malachi for the invitation. He'll be there with bells on. Tori and her friends will have a fine celebration tonight at the Bridge. Stu will be cooking and baking the cinnamon cake and the table will look splendid in Tori's honor. The GAs are also welcoming Randi's Max to the Bridge, so the party will be very special indeed: Tori's birthday, Max's arrival, and Canada Day.

I'm glad that you finally got a diagnosis for Daniel and we'll keep fingers crossed that the condition will not pass to his daughter. It's so great that Malachi is Patience's special buddy and that he keeps his Ayanna close, too. How lovely!

Scritches to the kitties and Happy Canada Day to you all,

Ella & Rusty

Ginger was all dolled up, and has disappeared, so I think she's on her way too.
