? Toothpaste?

Hello all, Plum just had his re-check from dental & two extractions about a month ago. Everything looks great and his BG #'s continue to look good; most recent was 68.

I asked about keeping his now-pearly whites clean, and she recommended cat toothpaste. However, so far everything I've looked at lists the first ingredient as sorbitol. Is this the big no-no I think it is? If so, what to use instead? The vet said to wait another couple of weeks for his stitches to heal completely.

I cannot find an diabetic-friendly toothpaste to save my life so I've been using Plaque Off which is diabetic-safe but it's not recommended for cats with thyroid issues.

I'm going to start my cats on chunks of raw instead of all grind though so it will help their teeth. I need to get some dentals in the works though!

I sell lots of plaque off and it does seem to help--I don't know about the thyroid but the tarter seems to wipe off easily .

My vet suggested that I wipe down my dog's teeth with some gauze after he eats. I wrap the gauze around my finger. You can just use a tooth brush with some baking soda, or just water. It will help get the plaque off. The sooner you start, the less there is to wash off.

I think it's something to do with the iodine content.

I use it on all my animals daily but it's expensive so I'll be switching to a similar product but made of kelp powder.
