But yes you’re probably right re the toothpaste.Essential oils should not be used at all with cats because cats cannot process them properly and they then become an issue and can cause toxicity. Peppermint will smell nice but not sure if it will actually clean his teeth.
There's not a lot of regulation on these "natural products" so things like this can slip through.
It would be better to use a cat formulated flavoured tooth paste and use a finger brush or cotton swab to apply. These have enzymes designed to clean the teeth and are more effective.

that's the problem - conflicting information about safety - is there one accurate source to find out?Maybe do some research to see if the ingredients are safe. It's a pain in the b&^/ but better safe then sorry. Cats can be so sensitive.
