We finally got a bit of a curve last night, so maybe those inversions are done. Or not. Should find out this weekend.

Tonka is feeling quite fine, acting like his old self. Teeger, who also seems like his usual happy self, has been losing a lot of weight (his blood sugars are just fine) and just tested positive for hyperthyroidism. Erg. Pills for the rest of his life. Poor guy. At least it's manageable.

Tonka is looking great and on very little insulin I might add! Sorry about your civvy Teeger, but hopefully he will start doing better on the meds. What is his age by the way? Do they all eat the same food? Just curious as I have 2 civvies as well. Hopefully Tonka is working her way OTJ soon!

Tonka does seem to be doing well. He's tearing around like a mad cat right now, flopping his back legs around behind him (getting strength back in them, but slowly). It'll be nice to get a curve on him this weekend so that I can see what happens throughout the daytime cycle at this point.

Teeger is 14 or 15 years (he was a pound-captured kitty, so I'm not 100% certain). Our old family cat (a loveable but "fractious old coot" ) developed hyperthyroid disease around age 10 and lived with it (and the pills) for close to another 10 years after. Teeger and Tonka eat the same food. They start out at their own plates, then switch half way through, so I don't really have a choice in this matter That's why I wasn't too concerned about his weight loss at first - I figured he was just losing weight due to switching from dry to wet food. But apparently he's got some overly-enthusiastic thyroid assistance in that.

Tonka really looks awesome!

I remember when I took China in for her weight loss, I was thinking hyperthyroid too...it's so common in older cats. I was pretty dumbfounded when he said it was diabetes! I guess I had never considered the idea that cats could get diabetes too!

Hope Teeger does great on the medication and has many more years to be with you
