Read on health forum that Tuckers mom was having high numbers. Her kitty is also on prednisolone even more than Toby.
She said she was giving it with the insulin and his numbers were high . She gave it 2 to 3 hrs after the shot and said she got lower numbers. I am going to try it with Toby and see how we make out. Keeping my fingers crossed. Ketones are Neg.

Don't know anything about the influence of pred on numbers, although I suspect it will raise them, nor do I know anything about the timing of the insulin/pred impact, Just want to stop by to wish you luck and hope the later pred dose helps.

It's an interesting idea to try something different with the pred timing for Toby and track it for a while. Mariko experimented with Lucy's prednilisone dosage starting July 2013. I believe Lucy was getting one pill a day, although Mariko also played with amount and timing (every other day), after discussion with her vet. What worked for her was to give the pred during the day cycle, because Mariko had to go to work and it helped raise the numbers to make sure Lucy was safe during the day. But the effects did not last through to the night cycle.

Paws and fingers crossed here you can find the optimum schedule. And dose - work that juice Toby!
