Hello everyone,

I've not had the need to post much of late as things with Toby have been going brilliantly, he has gone from strength to strength and really is living his best life. I am following a tight regulation protocol and he continues to regularly earn his reductions :-). He is feeling chunky and has totally got his sparkle back. With no further tachycardia episodes and the pancreatitis is under control also.

Anyway, unfortunately my pet insurance will stop covering the diabetes at the end of February and so I have Toby booked in with the vets for a general MOT at the end of the week. I want to get him weighed, get his teeth checked, and get some general bloods done. My question to you all is what bloods should I request? He had alll manner of tests and scans in October when he had his heart Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy diagnosed and also his early kidney disease. I want to have bloods done so I have a new baseline, but I've no idea what to ask for (other than fbc and fructosomine). And is there anything else you would have done whilst he is covered?

Thanks all and wishing you and your kitties well.

Great update on Toby. The senior panel, here it’s called the geri panel, includes CBC (complete blood count), chem panel, SDMA if not part of the usual chem, thyroid check, probably a urinalysis too. Your vet should have a good idea what to ask for.

Thanks Wendy, this is good advice. All the best.

He has put on 1.1kg since December..... whoop.... now considered a normal healthy weight. Hurrah!

Full bloods done, results in a week or so. Thank you all for your advice, I was totally that annoying owner that told the vet what to do (slightly awkward lol).

Haha good for you Kate! Nothing wrong with annoying your vet to get the outcome you want ;)
