First - Blessings and prayers for Shadow and Jupiter and all Furrs and Beans who are in need of special vines. The courage of our kitties and the Beans who go above and beyond to give them the best life possible and make the hard choices when that too is giving them the highest and best is seen here over and over. If only the rest of the world operated this way.

It's been almost 3 months since my beloved Pirate sailed over the Rainbow Bridge. I miss her every moment of every day. She visits me in dreams and sweet, sweet memory.

Two months ago my 25 year old SUV finally bit the dust. As Judith and I looked about for another vehicle for me we decided to be practical and get a Prius. In my family our cars always have names and personalities. In honor of my Pirate I decided to name my new car after her. And what better color to get in honor of a true Pirate then Black?

As today is Talk Like A Pirate Day it's appropriate that my personalized plates finally arrived.

For my special kitty. Mommy's MOST special girl. Oh how I love you. Always and forever.

What a great tribute. I'm sure that Fitz the Prius is thrilled to be named after The Pirate Fitz. May she live up to her namesake!

p.s. All of our cars have had their own names and personalities, too (after 44 years we have only had 5--almost as good as your record 25 years with one! Our first car, a VW Bug, we had for 21 years; he was going on memory towards the end of his life.)

What an amazing tribute to your beautiful and brave Pirate Fitz. I love it!!!! I am so glad your sweet girl visits you. It may seem it is in your dreams but I know she is really there. My AC told me kitties can move back and forth through the veil for a very long time to comfort their beloved human companions.

Thank you for letting me know you remember my beloved Pirate. And for those who came after she was gone, thank you for your warm approval of my tribute to her.

So many of us have lived this pain - it's unlike anything else we experience in our lives. Sometimes I marvel that my broken heart still beats, but I know that it does because it's alive and well when I cradle and stroke and stritchel my other kitties. It's there when I 'count fuzzy noses' of the feral colony Judith and I support - feed, trap, spay and neuter. Yet, it's broken still, raw and unhealed yet, in aching for my sweet tortie calico Pirate Fitz.

I like the new license plate. The new holder for it would look perfect, I think.
