Today marks 14 days since Bob's last dose of PZI. I just checked him, got a 57 @ 4 hours after breakfast. Then I boiled some shrimp and Bob got not one, but two. I even ate a couple while his face was buried in the food dish.

To everyone here - thank you from the bottom of my heart for all of the encouragement, advice, and kind words since I first posted here about 6 weeks ago.
You took a fumbling scared newbie who was lost and unsure about pretty much everything, and molded him into someone who is no longer hesitant to parcel out some advice when "newbies" ask. I have learned sooooo much here, and learn something new every day.

Bob was treated with PZI, starting at 1 unit BID in mid-May. He was also DKA at the time he was diagnosed. He's been on sub-q fluids the whole time, twice a week or more, 100ccs. His daily doses climbed to 7u (total) before he started coming back down. Since his last shot, (.5u) I've tested him at random times daily, and he's ranged from low 50s to mid 90s (just once), but has spent most of his time in the 65-80 range. He was switched to an all FF classics diet shortly after I joined, and has thrived on it. He's lost weight which he needed to do. Only half a pound down to 14. Pre-DB, he was over 20. At diagnosis, he was 13 lbs and looked like he wasn't going to make it. He went up to 14.5 during the first month, and since then I have tried to get him back down a bit. It has worked well. Now I'm going to keep him there.

My vet has been tremendous through all of this. I'm one of the very lucky ones. She did have experience with diabetes, and she did work with me over the past 2 months. I'd share what I learned here, and she'd listen. She never told me "no, don't do that!".

You all have no idea how much Bob and I truly appreciate everything you have done for us. Even if I've never directly "conversed" with you - the knowledge, experience and history you've posted here has helped us, and I am sure untold thousands of people who just come here, never post, and try to absorb a mountain of data. Again, from the bottom of my heart, and Bob's belly,
Bless you all, and THANK YOU!

Yes Ann, you have. You're one of the unsung heroes that provided knowledge unknowingly.

Carl

Congratulations!

Ann and I are part of the oldtimers that come here every day - we may not post every day, because there are so many helpers. Does it make it any better to hear the same advice from 8 people instead of 7? I post if I can add something unique or if some of the other regular helpers are not around.

So glad to hear (read) it!!

These folks are awesome aren't they?

Go Bob, Go!!!

Bob says "stirred, and then shaken. Of course. And the cigar sounds wonderful!"
I'll lend him my zippo...
Thanks, Maxwell!

I am so glad that Bob made it to OTJ! Great Job!!!

I am also glad you were here for me in my times of need. It is because of you, and other people like you, that makes going through this learning experience much more bearable.

Casey and I hope you will always remember that you are a blessing as well, to Bob and to many of us here on FDMB,
