So Fern had a Dental on Tuesday and this morning I was really down to see a high number.

AMPS 416. I could stay to see what was going on because I had to go to work.

Well tonight I get home and his PMPS is even higher 485.

I am at +2 and he has already dropped 140 points. I'm thinking, OK also kind of hoping he is back to his bouncing ways.

How do I know if I should back off and where should I back off to if this is the case.

If I were you, I'd get some daytime nadirs this weekend and see if he is bouncing for those pre shots. For now this pm cycle looks okay. Maybe plan to set the alarm and get a nadir?

Once again, that ECID thing raises its ugly head. Some cats lower their levels right after a dental; some take awhile; some show no change.

YEah I wasn't expectin a dramatic drop, but I wasn't expecting to see numbers seem to be quite a bit higher then per-procedure either.

No pain meds (I think they did give him a long acting one at the appointment) and he doesn't seem to be doing any I'm in pain behaviors.

Yeah I'm planning a +4 and a +6 at least tonight. I'll get a +2 and +6, +8 and likely a +10 tomorrow. (I have class so can't get the +4). If things are wonky I will be getting more readings on Sunday.

+4 reading is 239. I'm relieved that the insulin didn't just "stop working."

I doubt he'll go hypo from this I hope he does not go back sky high for the AM

So I just looked at Fern's bill. They mentioned giving a shot for the antibiotic. It of course was Convenia. Sigh, there is nothing I can do about it now. What can I expect in regards to BG.

Ok it might just be coincidence. I do know it looks like we will have his 4th in a row 400+ BG tonight. He's never had numbers that high for that long. And his reading today were flat or flat for him only 100 point or so change. Now I have no clue what to do.

I'd give it another cycle and see if his numbers improve. He has been doing okay on 2.5 so I am confused about his higher levels.

My understanding is that Covenia is for infection, so I am guess the vet didn't give any pain meds? I just wonder if he is in pain. Is he acting normal? Any sign he is hurting? Does his mouth look okay?

The vet gave a shot of Buprenorphine (sp) which they say is good for 3-5 days. I can handle his mouth (did so this afternoon checking to see if his gums were pink but seeing as his coloring is black on his gums that doesn't work) He is eating normally and is not exhibiting any other signs of pain.

Sigh of relief, after another 400 number this morning he was back at 348 tonight.

I also met with a new cat sitter, one who will do BG readings. I have her coming on Wednesdays when I go from work to a class I'm taking. Hopefully this will get him use to her and if something goes wrong and she can't test and shot he will know her before I take a trip in April

Update from today. 302. Yipee, but kitten you frustrate me. Hope this continues. I debated between a fat 2 and his 2.5 but went with the 2.5.

Hey that's a nice drop! Any way to get a mid cycle test in today...just to see where this brings him? Not sure what your work schedule is like... :)

Not today. I use to tell the cats "well someone has to work to pay for the kibble." I guess it's now "well someone has to work for the squishes." I might leave a tiny bit late so I can get close to a +2.5/+3 though.
