Tips for changing from canned to raw?

I need tips on how to change my new civie's diet from canned to raw. I got her off the dry junk without any problems :thumbup She's now eating NV Instinct canned. My male civie eats NV raw (has sensitive tummy) and I would like both cats to eat the same food. Feeding both cats different foods this morning was a PITA :shock: I've offered a little piece of raw to my new civie but she won't eat it. She did eat a little piece of freeze dried raw but she probably thought it was a treat.

So how do I get her eating raw? Sneak a little piece of raw into her canned food for a bit and then increase the amount slowly? Sprinkle crushed up treats or put tuna juice on top of raw?

Just to clarify - you want to transition the civie to NV raw too?

My civie wouldn't eat it straight, but my two sugar cats would. I mixed in half a medallion of NV raw with 3/4 a can of FF and she ate it no problems. What I've done with my homemade raw transition, is start 70/30 FF/raw, then 50/50 FF/raw, then 30/70 FF raw, then straight raw. My civie ate all her straight raw food for the first time this morning. I spent a week at each mixture level. Good luck!

guess it all depends on the cat. took me about a year with Candy. first got her, she ate homemade raw right off the bat from canned. then after a few months, she started burying it. so just bought cheap ( very cheap) and had to start with 1TBS mixed into half a can. these were the 5 oz cans. if I tried adding more raw, she would not eat it. finally I am at 1tsp in about a little more than an 1/8 a can. come to find out, my civvie moves her out of the way and now she just goes and eats the plain old raw. But I do have to start her out with a whiff of the canned. plus, she would never eat the good canned stuff nor does she like fish flavors. slow and steady wins the race. just hope it does not take as long for you, sigh

Ideally I would like my new civie to eat NV raw as well to keep everything as easy as possible. And affordable since I get NV coupons every so often.

I might have to go slower than that. New civie is from a rescue so naturally she's used to eating dry junk and some canned. I just got her eating only canned food so I don't think I'll try adding in raw for at least a few days. I want to avoid tummy and poop issues.
