So Tip came home from the vet about an hour ago, had a bG of 450, I figure part of it was stress. But an hour later, I checked before food(for once she wasn't much of a wiggle butt!) and she tested as just "HI". Thinking this was wrong, I got up to get a new test strip, and her becoming too impatient to test, I let her get some food. I tested her again, and she came in at 484. Could this still be stress from the vet?
It should also be noted that she did get in to some of the dry food, I've yet to successfully switch her sister to canned. I figure this drove her up too. The vet took her back up to 1.5U(Humulin N, no switch) and told me to watch her carefully, and to knock it back down again if she goes low. Also didn't exactly trust my numbers, so thursday next week we'll be comparing numbers as the vet really didn't feel she had enough information to trust my meter(Relion Ultima). She uses an Alpha Trak(sp?) meter.
Anyways, I'm going to compile my questions here:
Could her number still be stress from the vet? When should I see those numbers go down?
Also, should I be concerned about her number? I doubt she'd let me test for ketones to make sure those aren't a problem.
Thanks tons.
EDIT: Because of the numbers, and how she's only been on .75U, I went ahead and did give her the 1.5U, I'll be testing at around +2, +3, and +4 to watch, as that's about when she crashed on saturday and went down to 59.
