I've read in several people's condos that their cats won't eat freeze dried meat treats, so I wanted to share what I've discovered. Star also didn't like them "as is." Really, I think his dislike came from the fact that the treats have very little smell, and they are a weird texture. But I thought, "What if I reconstitute them?" So I put some in the palm of my hand and added a little warm water, swished them around to rehydrate them a bit, and voila! When they are moistened, they actually smell like chicken or turkey (we don't get the same results with the salmon treats, which are more like jerky), and they are more like the texture of real poultry. Star gobbles them up!

Hope that is helpful!

This is great information! I did this same thing with my first batch of the freeze-dried chicken. Another thing I did was mix in the stinky freeze-dried whitefish with the freeze-dried chicken/turkey to get them all smelly. Once they caught on that those scentless, white things were yummy-nummy treats, I didn't have to "reconstitute" or "re-scent" them after that.
