? Time to increase dose?

Hi everyone,

Spooky has been on 2 units for a week now. I know with Vetsulin it's time to increase him to 2.25 but I thought I would ask for a second opinion. When I look at his chart it seems like he was doing better on 1.75 than he has been on 2. His time in the yellows was lasting for a lot of the days, where on 2 units he's bouncing back up earlier.

Would you advise to increase, stay the same, or decrease?

For food he gets (all my cats get) Friskies Pate for their main meals and Fancy Feast Classic Pate for snacks. I also have been giving Spooky bone broth with a few Stella and Chewy raw frozen chicken pieces in it, which he loves. I'm trying to find some low carb treats that he likes but so far no luck so he's been getting a single party mix or a 1/3 temptations for his treats. He hates the liv a littles, doesn't like the Young Again zero carb treats.
 
Yes it does look as if he needs an increase in dose to 2.25 units but I will tag @FrostD as she is a vetsulin user.
She may be on in a few hours time.
Have you thought about swapping to a more suitable insulin for cats such as Lantus?
You may find he responds much better with a longer lasting insulin.
 
Yes, I've considered switching him to Lantus, and I may still do that, just not right now. I was advised on this board to wait a few months before I switch, and my vet so far has been dismissive of changing, but I'm confident that I can get her to write the prescription if I push.
