Many of you don't know us... some of you may remember.
I got Tiko from my vet about 4 years ago. His previous "owners" wanted to euthanize him because he was diabetic. My vet asked me to take him... and I did. He was my 4th diabetic.
Within 3 days of Tiko coming home, he had a dental with 12 extractions. Then he had an asthma attack... and went into DKA. He spent 3 days at the ER then was transferred to my vet. He wasn't doing well and was giving up.
I went to see him and thought it would be the last time... until Tiko heard my voice and pulled himself across the cage towards me.
We fought off the DKA... and did so two more times.
Tiko was mine. And I was his.
He loved Italian food. I could put a piece of spaghetti on the edge of the table and he would slurp it off. He liked to reach up and swat food off my plate.
All I had to do was look at him and he would purr. It sounded like a helicopter.
Last night I held him for the final time.
I couldn't ask him to fight again.
He wasn't purring. But I asked him for one final purr to keep in my heart...
He looked up at me... and gave me that final gift...
