Tiger not peeing?

Tiger is 19 and has been diet controlled for some time now. I knew that he had kidney issues from his last vet visit last year, but he recently peed several times in the front hallway, and on the carpet in the dining room. I think he is getting senile, as he acts like he doesn't know where he is, and just pees. He has also pooped in several odd places. Just when I was getting exasperated, he stopped peeing (I think, as we still have another cat , Julia). The piles of pee just don't look as big as his normal ones. I've given him lots of water mixed in his food (wet) and he drinks some, too, but I'm not feeling good about this. He still walks around and is always begging for food, and wakes us up in the am, looking to eat. I'll wait til tomorrow am, and then I have to decide what to do. Right about now, I'd gladly clean up pee on the floor. He did for sure poop this am, but I'm not sure about pee. No signs of straining or pain when touched, either.

If in doubt, take him to the vet. Meanwhile do you have any testing supplies to check his blood or urine sugar?

Sounds like a vet visit is needed to figure out if there is something physical going on.

Unfortunately, I have 2 meters, both need new batteries, and NO test strips! I may try and get them tomorrow, unless we go to the vet.

If there is no pee or he is straining to pee and the pee patches are really small, marble sized, it could be some kind of urinary tract blockage. You need a vet visit if he doesn't pee soon.

Does his breath smell like urine? Emergency visit to the vet is in order.

Going outside the litter box could be because he associates the litter box with pain.

Got up this am (to a chorus of loud miaows) and found that he had peed (his normal amount) in his normal spot in the litter box! I will continue to watch him closely, though! He ate and bathed himself, then settled in for a snooze.

Monitor for dehydration:
Are the eyes sunken?
Gently pull up the scruff and release. If it stays tented/pulled up, he is moderately to severly dehydrated.
Giving subcutaneous fluids may be done at home and may make a renal cat more comforable. something to discuss with the vet.

I checked him for dehydration and he seems fine today. He went pee twice and pooped twice, both in litterbox!!

Glad he's doing better. Because of the renal disease, I would make the dehydration check daily and note it on your spreadsheet - maybe add a column by notes, to keep it separate. That info may help your vet treat him, too.
