Tiffany AMPS 417, +6 168 repeated 175 Please advise??

Hi there,

I have not yet had this low of a number...I thought that my meter may be wrong, so I repeated again. She did have a small treat of sliced roast beef (very small amount), then test was 175. I know this is normal range...but what do I do??? I will test again, but do I give her a smaller dose if it stays low??

those are great numbers!

I would keep the dose but better to get more opinions on the dosage. To do that, maybe you can put the question mark prefix in the Title line so ppl know?

Good for Tiffy to be in Blue! The time of being lower in the cycle is very appropriate, too.

Oh good!!! Thank you, Tanya. I was becoming discouraged again and was happy to see the blue numbers, but also concerned that it came down so fast. This fd is tricky!!!

Woohoo, love the blues! Time to celebrate. I expect there is a good chance she is seeing some more of those overnight, but you haven't been getting any PM tests. Cats often go lower at night. With TR, you should be getting at least one additional PM test. One before bed is a good one.

We determine the dose of Lantus and Levemir based on how low it takes the cat. With TR, we reduce if it takes them below 50, so you would not lower the dose now. And you will probably have to increase again.

Her numbers are in a completely safe range, feed as you normally would at this point.

I did give her a mini meal after this reading...she was hungry. And I will give her another mini meal around 5 p.m. She seems to do better and is happier with 4 smaller meals a day...rather than the 2 big meals her vet was advising I do. What do you do with Ducia?

I too give Ducia smaller portions thru the day. The specialist we have seen advised to give two large portions instead, just like your vet has. Must be a San Diego thing, huh?

Ducia's feeding is in the process of trial and error, I am very new to it all, still.She has recently reached her target weight and I need to figure out her best total caloric intake/ lower carbd wet food brands. I won't call the vet with this. Loosing my faith in the species just like I had with the human MDs after being misdiagnosed with thyroid cancer.

This Board contains by far more practical knowledge than my vet. And certainly by far more individual approach and interest in Ducia. But I'll keep the vet for tests and Rx.
Do I remember it correctly that you had question about Tiki food brand in one of the earlier posts?
Where did you get it from?
I drove over 4 different location on Sunday and none carried it...

Even with human diabetics, more smaller meals is better. It's much easier on the pancreas than having to digest two large meals at once.

Yes, I the more I follow the advice of this board, (you and Wendy have been awesome) the more hopeful I am becoming that Tiffany can get well again! I think my vet is mad at me...

I was able to find the Tiki Cat Mousse at our local pet store in Coronado. (http://www.wagntails-coronado.com/) and I found canned Tiki Cat varieties at a pet store downtown (https://earthwisepet.com/). She loves the mousse, but did not like the beef and liver Tiki canned food. I will keep trying...I am also trying several of the Wuerva varieties, which I found at the Earthwise pet store. She loves the FF Classics of course, but it is higher in Phosphorus...what is it about FF?? Cats seem to love it.

I had Dr. Lisa's food chart 2014 with me when I was checking the stores on Sunday. I came back home empty handed and very frustrated with the cat food industry.

I think my vet is mad at me...

Ducia and I are banned from one the nearest ER clinics for refusing to keep her on FREE FEEDING WITH DRY FOOD and insanly high dose of insulin just some days after her Hypo. They refuse to admit us even when I called for another emergency. I don't care. No names but at this clinic they were more concerned with keeping their appointment book filled and insanely expensive tests done and paid for.
