Somewhat good news all. First of all, when I saw her labs from yesterday they emailed to me, I could not believe my eyes -- wait for it -- wait for it -- you could not tell from looking her labs that she had ever been a diabetic kitty or had pancreatitis or any other kidney issues, etc. The last page -- she has a fairly bad urinary tract infection so she is on antibiotics, and good thing I had the sitter take her in last night. She had lost another 1.11 pounds since last week, but she hadn't been eating all that much, and we all concur that she has been pining for me for about one month. So, I am going home tomorrow to a new home, and Murphy and Oscie will be home with me around noon. I'm sure she will be one that needs the kid gloves for a while. It makes perfect sense and I'm so glad I will be able to cuddle with her and Oscie.

I guess my question is -- since all of her labs looked so fine, I cannot figure out why the weight loss? Any ideas?
 
While not an expert by any means I would suspect that since her labs are good, that she is just not been eating much because sh has been missing momma. I've never had a cat do it, but a long time ago I did have a dog that did that, he refused food other than just enough to keep him alive while I was away for a month overseas, the moment I got home, he started eating like a horse and as quickly as he had lost weight he started packing on the pounds. Sending prayers that is all it is with Ms Murphy that she is just missing momma and as soon as you are home with her again that she will start plumping up again.

Missing mommy can be a powerful force. I'm GLAD you will all be together again soon. Take care and continued prayers for your complete recovery.

Whenever I have gone away in the PAst,
my babies would barely eat until I got home,
and one month is a long time
Glad she is doing well
