Her SS is updated. It's been a crazy few days around here! I probably screwed up Sun morning but I was too chicken to shoot anything into that 60. For future reference when I get a low # & I'm gonna be home should I shoot a token dose? That's what I ended up doing but 3 hours late. I knew she would shoot up so I wanted to try to avoid that. She just continues to pull tricks on me! I had hoped Lev would be easier but so far not so much. I can never figure her out.

Are you shooting a "skinny" .5u? Do you have a sense of what the actually is? There are many doses between .25u and .5u - no kidding! On mico doses, even .05u makes a difference. So if you are at .45u, I would suggest trying .35u. I actually find it easier to do .1u changes (.4u, .3u, etc.).

She may still be getting too much. When you have dramatically different PSs, I find reducing the dose slightly helps to even them out. Otherwise you are shooting and skipping the next one (or shooting late) and it messes everything up.

Yes, when you have a low PS you can shoot a token dose it the numbers are rising (so first thing is to wait and retest in about 30 mins) and only if you will be home to monitor and test or have data that shows you how she will react (which you don't now and won't for a while). I would not shoot a PS of 60. I would wait. Some people do - with data to back them up that it is safe. The idea is to "shoot low to stay low", but that never worked with Beau (he plummeted). I just do not feel comfortable shooting a number that low. Mid 80s is about as low as I will shoot.

I am measuring to .5 then squeezing out a drop, so that's why I call it a "skinny" .5 I'm sure it's probably not exactly the same every time. I have no idea how ya'll measure out those .35 or .45 doses...it looks like to me I'm almost at .25 if I squeeze out more than a drop. Go figure I would get a cat that's so sensitive. I really really struggle to see anything less than .5! I appreciate all the info & help but I just don't think I can get any more accurate. I'm impressed that others of you can!

On Sat I tested her 3 times within an hour, if you look at the SS that's why there are 3 #'s there. I couldn't wait any longer to feed her or the rest of the crowd so when I saw she was just hanging I decided to skip, knowing full well she was gonna rise. I thought I remembered someone telling me or maybe I read it when I was using Lantus that you shouldn't reduce a dose one time only so I hesitated to shoot 3 hrs late. When I got that 198 I knew it would be bad if I waited another 9 hrs to shoot. As it turns out it was bad anyway but hopefully I stopped it from being worse.

Thanks again for the input!

Yep, I saw the three numbers before. I would have postponed the shot myself - not even shooting a reduced dose on that number just sitting there.

Jeddie gave me a 60 this morning. I did not shoot. And, yes, he is going through extraordinary things right now, but I still would not have shot a 60 (that was actually at +10). Since I was going to be gone for a few hours I just waited until I got back at +14 and tested. He was 143, but because of the very low number earlier, him not eating well and the time being into the next 12 hours, I shot only .15u (instead of .35u). Yesterday he also gave me a 61 and I skipped. He was 273 by the next PS and I shot .4u because I was thinking he was higher and had gone 24 hrs since his last shot. Obviously, that was too much.

If you want to draw in .1u or .05 units it does take practice. I have posted photos and instructions for what I call the drop method and they are both linked in the Lev 101 Sticky in the text below the first chart. Use an old syringe, draw up some water or juice or coffee and to the .5u line and practice getting 5 drops that are visually the same size from that amount. Twist the plunger (like a thumb screw) instead of pushing it. I think you will find a certain amount of turn = .1u. For me it is about a 1/3 turn. So the physical turning and the visual size of the drop help me to get those doses. And once you have 5 drops from .5u, try for 10 drops from .5u - those would be .05u. So getting a .35u dose would mean drawing to .5u and then "beading off" 1 and a half drops.

Just checking in on you and Thumper. Hang in there--- hopefully Thumper will settle down soon!

Give Petunia my love!

Good to hear from you Kim! Thumper's numbers aren't that great so far but I've noticed she's more active this past week so that's a good thing.

Petunia wants to come see you!
