We have been shooting 1.4 since Thursday PM she got a great curve on Sat and a yellow PMPS then Sun morning she went right back to pink PS. I don't get it...imagine that! Should I go ahead & increase again? I haven't checked her ketones in a couple of days cause I haven't caught her in the litter box. She seems to be about the same & her appetite is good.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY Thumper!!!! party_cat

Things have changed so much for Thumper, she was being almost micro dosed and now she likes more! From looking at her SS, it looks like to me you could give her an increase for her Birthday present!!! You have no low test lately-- so it looks safe to me to increase.

What do you think?

I'm worried about what all these high #'s are doing to her. It makes no sense at all to me how she could just continue to need more & more insulin for no apparent reason. So I guess I'm saying yes my first thought would be to increase but I'm totally confused about when I should & when I shouldn't. And why the heck did we see those blues on Sat????

and why did you see those greens back at .6 units? I don't have an answer, but I do want to wish Thumper happy birthday.

I know Ginny! She hasn't been on this much insulin since right after she was diagnosed & she wasn't on it for long after I started home testing!

Happy birthday, Thumper! I think a present of more insulin would be appropriate given her numbers. Something is definitely going on with her, which is requiring her to need more insulin, but with pre-shots like hers it looks like she could support more right now.

I really don't know, but if I blindly looked at her SS and knew nothing about her....I would say she wasn't getting enough insulin. BUT, do not make a decision on my advice--you know her better than anyone.

But, I have read that insulin requirements do and can change over time.

Good Luck with your decison!

Hopefully you will get some additional feedback.

Ok, I'm increasing. I was just afraid of doing it too quickly. I think I got in trouble a while back for increasing too quickly!

Happy Birthday Thumper!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm sure it's already been discussed - any chance the insulin vial has pooped out?

It was discussed awhile back but then we started getting results. I have thought about it lately but would she be getting those blues if that were the case? I have been using it since April 1st & have about 1/4 of the bottle left. You think that might be a possibility? What happens when it "poops" out? Kim???

Curves get flat......very little drop.

When the insulin does poop, it doesn't just go "dead"--you can compensate for the poop by increasing your dose. But, it gets confusing, because it will take 1.25 units to get the curve you were getting on 1 unit (example). You really lose all of your data--because, on paper you are over dosing.

Does that make sense......no I am not drinking!!!

+4 - 208

So could that be it? It's like I'm getting a good result the same day or the next day I up the dose then she's going up again.

I thought my old vial with 1/4 was pooping out too...opened about same time yours was. Then I got a couple of blues and started getting some increases from +4 to +6 so I opened new vial just purchased, things have been about the same with new vial so I don't know?

And...
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO DEAR THUMPER!! :RAHCAT :RAHCAT bcatrun_gif bcatrun_gif

That was exactly what happened to us when our PZI Vet vial pooped out (way way at the dregs of the vial though). I just kept raising and raising and getting barely any response over a few days til someone suggested that might be it - started a new vial on the old dose that had been working, and it worked just fine.

But like Angela said, she didn't see any improvement really from the new vial, and she's had the same kind of thing where the dose is a lot higher than what looked like would work a few weeks ago. It's a puzzle. What is going on with all the kitties? confused_cat
