We really need that bang your head on the brick wall icon! I think she may not be feeling well though. DH said she projectile vomited around 2:30 but he didn't know when she had eaten last. When I came home one eye is half shut but he says she looks fine. She had a hard time getting her eyes open when she was a kitten & got some sort of infection that cleared up but she has had a issue off & on since. It seemed like eveytime they gave her a antbiotic ointment it got worse. I asked about herpes but no one has ever given me a straight answer. The past couple of years I have just left it alone & in a day or so it gets better. Just got a ketone check & we're ok there so I will just ride it out I guess.

Barbara,
Are you sure one of the other kids didn't smack her in the eye? My two boys like doing that, and walk around with one messed up looking eye for a day or two...

I don't know what to make of Thumper lately. She didn't drop that low....not bouncy low anyway. Maybe reduced when she's below 300 but not if she isn't? Like shave just parts of the scale?

Of course when you have 5 cats a smack is always possible but since this has happened before I just assume it's her same old issue. She will hold it shut a few days then it usually clears up. I feel bad for her, it looks like it hurts but the vets always give her that ointment & I swear that makes it look worse.

Last night looked good & this morning also. I was a little surprised that +6 wasn't lower but then when I got that PMPS I really was surprised. I didn't expect it really. These good #'s for awhile then crazy ones have been a pattern for her since the beginning. No one knows what her deal is. I hate it though cause really she's spent more time with high numbers than lower ones. Theres just nothing else I can do. I'm just not gonna take her back to the vet right now unless I can determine she's in any pain. The vet is almost more frustrating than her BG readings. I spent so much time & money on her the last time & they can tell me nothing. I would take her in a heartbeat if they could help her but that hasn't happened. I will have to take her sometime probably soon though to have her teeth checked. I would have already done that but have had too much else going on. :YMSIGH:

Barbara, that sounds like a Herpes infection in her eye, antibiotic ointment doesn't help that much. What will help is L-Lysine.
Also, has she ever been checked for Glaucoma? Henry did the same thing with one eye for a over a year he would hold one eye shut for a few days then it would get better then he'd do it again in a few weeks/months. Vet ended up checking him for Glaucoma and he had it in both eyes. Glaucoma is common in older and diabetic cats.
We had a huge bounce tonight too.
Hope she gets to feeling better and gets some good numbers.

Oh Barbara, so sorry this is so frustrating. And Poor Thumper :(
Hopefully the eye thing will clear up. Angela’s thoughts are interesting. Do you put the L-Lysine right in the eye or is it a suppliment?

I'm actually liking the last few days, you're back to much better numbers, with the exception of that 509  which was probably a bounce.

Harley was born with the herpes virus and has had a sneezing watery eye thing going on for years, when the sneezing starts I crush a 500mg tab of L-Lycine and mix it into their food at night. Things usually clear us within a few days. But he has never kept his eye closed like Thumper.

I hope she starts feeling better and you too. :YMHUG:

Yes, her #'s were better the last couple of days but now we've got pink again, after that 509. They improved when I switched the injection site but she doesn't like me shooting on her side, she swatted me pretty good last night.

The eye cleared up already so I don't know what was going on, usually it will look bad for a couple of days. I have always wondered about the herpes but she never sneezed or anything like that. I knew that antibiotic ointment wasn't doing anything so I quit taking her when it happened. Angela, I have never had her checked for glaucoma but she has had whatever this problem is since she was a kitten.

Hey Barbara, I haven't been keeping up very much lately. Sorry to see Thumper has an eye problem on top of your daily trials with her BG levels.

Glad the eye problem has cleared up for now.
Theres also an eye condition that sounds somewhat like that called I think Horner's syndrome.
The L-Lysine seems to help the herpes in the eye from recurring as often; you can get the tablets and crush them in food or a paste form.
