? Thoughts on skipping insulin for 1 day (2doses)

I will be out of town June 8th and am wondering how bad it would be to skip his doses that day . Hes only been on insulin 2 days so far and I dont have anyone trained in my family to do it and I'm scared if they try and dont make him eat enough or dont test and he goes too low when I'm not around.

I would be skipping his morning and evening shot during 1 day and then resuming the following morning

I understand your concerns. We all worry about leaving out FD kitties.
You mentioned your husband will be at home to feed Smokey. Are you able to train him up to be able to test, do you think? It would be a great advantage to you to have another tester in the family. My husband didn't test for a few years with Sheba but did learn when I was hospitalised. He found it easy and surprised himself. And it was so much better after that, when I had someone else at home who could test....I was able to do so many more things outside the house than I had been able to do.
We often suggest lowering the dose if someone else is looking after the cat, to make it safer in case kitty doesn't eat if he isn't being tested.
It isn't really a good idea to stop the insulin for 2 days as there is a risk of ketones developing.

Hey Julie, I second Bron's suggestion to get hubby to test and shoot if he will be home while you are gone. If you have to do without insulin for 2 days, the depot is messed up and the count would start over again. Hopefully, that will work out for you.
