My cat Presley is newly in remission (after his initial diagnosis of diabetes 10 months ago). He is now 18 days in without any insulin and remains in the low 100’s on the AlphaTrak (under 100 on the freestyle). I think this is partly due to a complete switch to all wet, low carb food (Sheba pate). He suffers from pretty severe allergies/rhinitis. He’s on cyclosporine for it. His allergies do flare up at times (especially lately with all the Saharan dust we’re getting) and get really bad. I remember a couple of years ago he was on a supplement called Imuquin that seemed to help his allergies a little. It’s basically a multi vitamin/ immune booster. I’d like to give it to him again, especially since the cyclosporine is an immunosuppressant. However I did take a look at the ingredients and there’s two that I’m not sure of: dextrose monohydrate and dried glucose syrup. Has anyone used this for a diabetic cat or know if it’s ok to give a diabetic cat (once a day mixed in food)? I obviously don’t want to jeopardize his remission. I’ll list the ingredients as listed on the package here:
Cholecalciferol (source of vitamin D3 ), copper amino acid chelate, cyanocobalamin (source of vitamin B12), dextrose monohydrate, dicalcium phosphate, dl-alpha tocopheryl acetate, dried glucose syrup, fish oil (mixed natural tocopherols, ascorbyl palmitate), iron amino acid chelate, manganese sulfate, microcrystalline cellulose, natural and artificial flavors, niacinamide, pyridoxine hydrochloride, riboflavin, silicon dioxide, sodium ascorbate, sodium caseinate, thiamine mononitrate, vitamin A palmitate, yeast extract, and zinc oxide
