Novolin is an itermediate-acting insulin, like Humulin. I don't know any of the specifics of her situation, obviously, but I would NOT recommend shooting if her cat is at 78.

I think this is the same person I just advised on the FB page NOT to shoot since she is just starting and has no data

Thanks Lucy, the active thread is the link above

I think I got the posts messed up. Trying to get eyes on her as no one responded to her all day.

Sorry, I just now got this tag. I agree DO NOT shoot a 78. Novolin R is a harsh fast acting insulin and that is way too low of a pre shot number. I only used Novolin R in adjunct to Lantus to help with Ketones.

Where did you get that R insulin was being used?
In the topic referenced in the first post in this topic, the original posted said the are using "It's N NPH ".

Novolin is Novo Nordisk's trade name for a family of Recombinant DNA origin insulins. They include N (sometimes called NPH), and R (very fast actions) and mixture of the two. Only N/NPH is OK, but not that good, for cats.
In the other topic I asked which Novolin and she replied "It's N NPH ".

I admit, I did not read the whole post, only from the tag to me on this page. I assumed when I was tagged it was for Novolin R.

ETA : You know what they say happens when you assume. ;)
