? Third Eyelid showing (DKA Recovered)

My cat recently has had her third eyelid start showing more and more. Its super dry here, and she seems a *little* dehydrated, but not a lot. With the pinch test her skin bounces back somewhat slowly.

Info:
  • Age: Older, over 9 years old
  • Sex/Neuter status: Female, fixed
  • Breed: Siamese Mix
  • Body weight: 10 lbs
  • History: Recently Diagnosed diabetic about two or three months ago. Treated for Ketoacitosis in hospital about a month or so ago. She has been given insulin and high protein food. She has been acting very well, plays often, is friendly, and airs grievances when upset.
  • Clinical signs: Her third eyelid is showing and her one eye is weeping
  • Duration: three days at this point
  • Ketone testing: Negative
Below is my tracking of her blood sugar levels I track on an app and I don't get the SS yet.

Getting only pre-shot tests (AMPS and PMPS are the abbreviations on the spreadsheet) only tell you whether it safe to give insulin. What they don't tell you is how low the dose is taking your cat's blood glucose (BG) numbers. We encourage members to get at least 4 tests daily -- the two pre-shot numbers and one test around the middle of the cycle or close to the nadir during the AM and PM cycles. Generally, you make dose adjustments based on the lowest number in the cycle. (The +numbers on the spreadsheet indicate how many hours after the pre-shot test you're testing your cat. The "U" column is the insulin dose -- it stands for units.)

It would be helpful if you could also set up a signature. The information on both the spreadsheet and signature are in this post on helping us to help you. The signature includes much of what you included in your bullet points along with the insulin you're using, what you're feeding your cat and other information so we don't keep asking you these questions.

To be honest, I would check with your vet about your cat's 3rd eyelid showing. It may be absolutely nothing but with a history of DKA, I'm always cautious. If your cat is dehydrated, adding water to the food may help but your vet can give fluids which would help far more quickly.
