Nick really likes when I give him half a slice of America's Choice thin sliced Oven Roasted Deli Turkey. And when I give him chunks of raw beef and raw chicken gizzards. I think it jumpstarts his pancreas to wake up a bit from the usual tastes of FF & Friskies. What brand of deli slices do most of you use? Here is the America's Choice. It was the only one of brands that I read label and had no soy protein, caramel, and potato starch in it. Oscar Meyer and another known brand had those things in it.

Some of them use turkey (and chicken) that have a 3% sugar solution as a preservative. Unfortunately that's not good for sugar kitties...poor babies.

But I read on this msgbd that plain, non flavored plain deli chicken/turkey can be used as treat, and at testing time as small reward. Now I am confused. :?

If you read the label on the chunk they slice from, you can see the specific ingredients.

One important notion - how much you're giving. If it is a pea-sized bit, its not very large and may have minimal impact. If it is an ounce of it, you may see a difference in the glucose levels.

Oops, I didn't mean to confuse you....I apologize. Like BJ said, small amounts may have little impact. There's one brand of freeze dried treats I've discovered I can't give KT - they began sourcing human grade chicken which had sugar preservatives. Your testing will tell you this since you know to it MIGHT. Some kitties can eat it just fine....

HUGS!
