There may be a problem with some batches of Friskies. Mel (Momma of Muse) had all of her 15 or so cats become ill. I found something that did not seem like food in a can I opened today.

Edited to add: I'm feeding 13 oz cans of Turkey and Giblets.

Would the folks whose kitties have had problems and are using Friskies pates please see my post in Health here and chime in with your general location.

And regardless of what food you are feeding, track the bar codes and any other codes on the can bottom or case packaging.

Friskie is our main food for all four kitties, and I just fed them the Speial Diet Turkey & Giblets this morning. I didn't see anything unusual, and so far no tummy issues (even my civvie that was already not feeling well ate it with no problems). I'll keep an eye out and will be watching for more postings.

Thanks for the heads up.

From what Mel posted, the Friskies could be an issue. However, Marje and I both have kitties with a GI thing going on and we feed Wellness. Marje was feeding Core and I feed regular Wellness.

Look at all possibilities. I'd also suggest that if anyone is having a problem with Friskies or any other food for that matter, contact the manufacturer and the FDA. The FDA oversees all recalls.

And there can be signigicant batch variations from time to time, too. For some cats, that can provoke GI upsets.

I had an issue with Wellness one year where food from one plant was fine and food from another had everyone vomiting. This can happen with any company, hence the checking for lot numbers, etc.

Is there a recall on this? I, too, feed my civvies Friskies pate, as well as the dry (trying to feed more wet than dry, though). So far (knocking on wood), I haven't had any problems with the 3. I'll keep an eye open for anything unusual.

I fed Tyler a 1/4 of a 5.5oz can of the Speial Diet Turkey & Giblets today, and came home to a little mess of fluid & couple of kitty treats. He is mainly just starting an abrubpt new diet and he's been getting mainly Fancy Feast the past few days. I have been feeding hill's w/d for months, so the vomit could have been from the diet change. but I thought I'd post it here for info. the bottom of can reads, dec 2015 33541157 L54480S53, barcode 0 50000 42254 8. Good luck, I'm a newbie and I won't be back on this thread tonight.

No recall at this time.

Whenever you see an issue that could be food related, keep the product info, where you got it, what, if anything was found in it, and so forth. Call and notify them, in case it has happened with someone else.

Jenks got sick this past Sunday morning within a few hours of eating a can of Friskies salmon pate. He experienced vomiting, followed by two days of diarrhea and a general aversion to wet food. He's just now getting his appetite back. This particular batch was purchased at Petsmart.
