Kris & Teasel

Teasel has a vet appointment this afternoon. He's a little under the weather with what I think is some sort of GI upset or similar since Saturday morning. He's still eating but not with his usual gusto. Thursday and Friday last week he had more HC food added to his LC to keep his BG up and I think that's what did it. Could be pancreatitis - he's had an episode before. No vomiting or anything, just less interest in his grub and lethargic. I've been trying to catch him going to the litter box to get a urine sample but no luck yet.

Oh no! These kitties and their secret message board! Hope everything goes well for Teasel at the vet, and he feels better soon!

Back from vet. The vet isn't too concerned at this point because Teasel is eating, is well hydrated and so on. No evidence of any belly tenderness, fever, etc. and I haven't seen any UTI/cystitis behaviour here at home. I have a few days of Cerenia to give and a request to do urine ketone checks daily for a couple of days. Just did one - negative. He thinks I could be right about a GI upset from the gravy food. I told him I'd also found very smelly (soft but formed) poop in the litter box yesterday and today and although I can't be 100% certain, I'm fairly sure it was Teasel's. If things don't improve in a day or two then we'll go back for a blood panel, pancreatitis test and urine test/culture.

This was one of two vets I see at my clinic and both are conservative in their approach - ie., don't order up all the $$$ tests right away. My preference ...

I hope Teasel gets to feeling better soon !! Hopefully this will pass right away and he will not need any further testing. I have had 2 other sick Kitty's besides Buddy, they can really drain their care givers.
