My wife and I have a vet coming to our home tomorrow night between 7:30 and 8:00 PDT to help my beloved Pirate Fitzel make her transition. I know we're scattered across the globe and therefore across time zones, but you are all the Pirate's family as much as any blood relation. So, if you can, would you please think of her about that time and send up a prayer that her passage is an easy one.

My heart is shattered and this is all I can put up right now.

May her transition be peaceful and bring you peace that she has crossed to a wonderful place of light, hope, love, and bring the old Pirate Fitz once again.

I am sorry. I will be thinking of you guys, and wishing a safe final voyage for the pirate, a gentle crossing. Candles will be lit throughout Lantus Land to aid on her journey. I hope the good memories will be of comfort to you.

Having just said goodbye to our beloved Mali on only Monday, our hearts are still aching with pain and we certainly know the pain you have at this time. I'm so so sorry it's Fitz's time to cross but what an amazingly WONDERFUL life he's known - he KNOWS he's loved to the moon and back. BIG HUGE LOOOOOOONG HUG - remember, he's not gone, you just have to hug him differently. Lots of thoughts and prayers from here...

I simply could not post on this thread after talking to you this morning Shai, I needed to wait until I was home and away from people... because my heart is breaking right along with yours and Judith's. You both know what a honor it was to actually meet Ms Fitzel..she was absolutely stunning!! and my god that tail...then for her to warm up to me immediately upon my arrival....
Please both of you know that you are giving Fitzel the greatest gift of all..to allow her to be pain free (you know the strange purr was that of pain). She will be greeted and treated like royalty by all the the sweetest GA's from all over the world. My candle is lit and I am now typing through tears streaming down my cheeks....Fly Free Beautiful Fitzel- you will be in my heart now and forever.

The final voyage has begun and Fitz is free of pain and illness. A horizon of health and freedom is waiting at the other side of the Bridge. You have given the final and most enduring gift of love and grace.

Fly free little one and land softly. There are many who we adore who will be waiting for you to keep you safe until you are reunited with the ones you love best.

At 8:00pm PDT our beloved Pirate Fitz set sail on her last voyage. The love that was present when she made her transition was palpable and even the vet remarked the atmosphere in our home was amazingly gentle, loving and comforting. Judith and I knew exactly why this was so, and I believe my Pirate did as well. Your prayers and thoughts were the gentle seas upon which she was carried to the Rainbow Bridge and beyond.

Judith and I are in overwhelm of both grief and gratitude. I have printed out all of your loving posts and will be back today to respond to each of you.

You are all our family and we feel so blessed.

Oh Dear - I spent the last hour and half writing out individual thank yous and the system timed me out. I lost them all.

I'm so tired and just can't do this again right now, but it's important to me that each of you who took the time to send thoughts, prayers, songs, love, candles, photos, all of it, be acknowledged with the love we have for you.

Judith and I knew we could count on your loving guidence, you patience, your support and now, your warm prayers for our beloved Pirate Fitz. All the research you shared with us, the links - they were literally life savers. We embrace you in light and love and always will. Thank you seems so inadequate for all you have done for my baby girl - and for us.

Wendy & Neko -Gentle breezes - yes, Wendy. thank you so much for allowing our Pirate Fitz into your world, you love and your warm prayers for her final journey. She indeed was in mommuys arms when she set sail.

Anne & Zenner - Angel Wings make perfect sails. Thank you for hoisting them in honor of our beloved Pirate Fitz. Did you know she rallied her crew of scallywags to cheer you on during the ParaOlympics?

Jamie & Jupiter - Thank you so much for your thoughts and prayers for our beloved Pirate Fitz. May your journey with Jupiter bring you swiftly and steadily to the Falls.

Mariko & Lucy: Goodbyes are so hard but your care and prayers matter so much and help more than I can say. May Lucy find her way back to the Falls soon.

Scratchie's Mom - (Jo and Bobby); When the numbness starts to lift one of the first things I thought was, did I do enough? Was I the best mommy I could be for my Pirate Fitz? Reading your words expressing that I have done well by my baby girl fell like salve to the raw grief which envelops me. Thank you so much.

Liz - Zenner: Sweet Liz - you have been such a warm, bright light for us. You've helped me help my Pirate more than you'll ever know. I am so grateful for your steady presence when my heart was clenched with dread. You are a blessing to us and always will be.

Cleo & Jane: Thank you for your loving words and the angel wings - perfect sails for my Pirate's last voyage.

Ella, Rusty & Stu (GA): The light of your candle reached all the way to Southern California. I'm sure it's loving beacon helped my Pirate set her final course - thank you so much.

Thank you so much and special gratitude for returning at the time of our baby girl's passing to light a candle so she would feel safe and protected.

Ann & Tess: After the 1994 earthquake our wood burning (now broken) fireplace became our altar - replete with candles and sage and crystals. The sweet photo you picked of the kitty and candle is so similar to one I have of my Pirate Fitz and a gold pillar candle by the altar. I'd post it but it's on old fashioned film. Thank you for bringing this beautiful memory to mind.

Terri (Chicken Little) oh, Terri, my wife Judith loves this song. When she read your post she put melody to words and it was wonderful. Thank you for selecting such a loving tribute for our Pirate Fitz on her last voyage. We are very grateful for your prayers for her and for us.

Sherry & Squirt (GA): Sherry, where do I even begin to express my gratitude to you. All those mornings and nights when you answered every anxious phone call. When you drove all the way out to our home and walked us through those first tenuous blood tests and shots and syringes with insulin. Your loving gifts to help offset the expense, which as a one income family, was difficult at best to handle. There was so much to learn and you, so patient and steady, caring and generous. From that first meeting when our beloved Pirate Fitz took to you right off - something which was not her usual MO. Normally, Fitzel had to consider a new human for quite some time before she ever deemed to allow them into her world. You entered her heart that first day. You are truly her official God Mommy and always will be. Judith and I are so grateful for everything - and for your loving tribute and memories and prayers for our baby. Right now, I believe it's the prayers which allow us to walk through the world right now. I look forward to that Saturday when we can get together and exchange hugs. You are such a blessing to us.
