The fingernail trick works great for getting blood!

I don't know about you guys, but once I poke my boys ear, he squirms a lot making it hard to get the meter strip to where the little blood dot is on the ear.
Well, I read on here about a week ago where a person would use their fingernail to collect the blood dot and test it off of their nail. Oh My God is that so much easier to do on an uncooperative feline!
I Vaseline the spot, make the Poke if I see a dot that is about 1/4-1/2 the size of a BB I collect it on the nail. and touch the strip to my fingernail.
My boys numbers arent great yet or regulated very well, but he seems to be stabilizing.

Obie - that's good to know!

I read about the fingernail technique when I first got here too but have never tried it. Alice has gotten a bit squirmy lately ... I may just have to try that myself. Thanks for the heads up! :razz:
