So, last night. Walmart is open 24 hours a day, but not the pharmacist, so he didn't get a meter. He did go to the ER and Costello got "cleaned out". The vet gave him laxative samples. (They said the baby suppositories were dangerous because they are not made for cats. ) Costello did not eat much overnight.
And, no surprise, the vet said to just do a curve one day, then give insulin based on that number for a week or two. Too much testing. I think Wally agrees that shooting blind is too dangerous and is more comfortable with testing 3X daily. (If we were still shooting 4 units, Costello would be in bad shape.....)
So, no preshot number last night. Not preshot number this morning. Wally's plan is to see if he will eat and if not, syringe feed him. Then he is planning to give .5 or a drop less. I don't like that but understand that he will be completely off in terms of any schedule. He'll go to Walmart when the pharmacy opens and get the ReliOn and strips.
I won't be home until mid afternoon. Carl, could you possibly give him a call to see how things are? I hate shooting blind and am really nervous about knowing nothing about Costello's numbers.
