...to everyone who reads and responds to posts on this board regularly. Because of you my kitty went into remission recently. because of YOUR advice! I came here a few months ago so bewildered and upset when my "baby", 17 year old Fuzzy was diagnosed as diabetic. The vet actually thought I might want to put her down! I could not believe someone would do that to a cat over an illness diagnosis. But I WAS scared and stressed and upset about having to do the shots, especially since I am VERY busy, live alone and have no help, work 2 jobs and travel a LOT. How would I cope with all the time required to acre for a diabetic cat? Thanks to all your advice and help on this board, I weaned her off the steroids she was on, switched her to Fancy Feast wet canned "classic" ONLY and gave her the Lantus. Well, within 2 months her glucose levels were 100% normal. I would never have known to do those things without this board. Now, I just need to see what to do with her still 3/4 bottle of Lantus and needles, and glucose monitor/test strips etc.. I am happy to donate them to someone.

Give yourself a big pat on the back. You researched, followed suggestions, and devoted the time necessary. And now are generously offering to help other cats. I'm sure that someone will take you up on your offer. I would just suggest that you keep your monitor and strips and test her every couple of weeks to be sure that her pancreas can continue to do its job.

I second the above. Any infection, other medical condition, or stress could provoke relapse, so hang onto the meter and strips and put a reminder note to test if she seems off where you'll see it.

If you want to donate your supplies - contact DCIN as they may have a need for them. Also, post what you have and location on the Supply Closet and see who may be able to use them.

Congrats!
