Hello, my name is Baylee and I posted about a month ago (in the wrong forum, no less!) asking for some help with my cat, Jack. His glucose was still very high (300's) and was on a dry food diet of Hills i/d for his diarrhea, and I was freaking out that his Lantus was burning him and concerned about rotating injection sites. I didn't get to the point where I made a spreadsheet or anything like you guys do (you guys go above and beyond, truly!), but I was steered in the right direction by you guys. Not only did you guys help, but you went above and beyond with the information.
Today, the vet has stated that Jack's diabetes is going into remission! We have been lowering the dose the last few weeks and we're near the lowest dose again
The vet told me today she has high hopes for him.
I wouldn't have known where to start with changing his diet, and I would have driven myself crazy worrying about him if not for this forum. I truly believe that getting him off the i/d food was one of the main contributing factors to his recovery. He's currently on Friskies Sea Captain's Choice (his choice!) after trying a bunch of different foods over the past month, and his glucose today was ~90! His diarrhea also immediately went away when we switched foods, interestingly enough.
I can't thank you guys enough. Thank you for providing this wonderful resource, and I hope your kitties also have success with this journey!
Thank you especially to:
- Sienne and Gabby (GA)
- Diane Tyler's Mom
- Wendy&Neko
You guys were amazing for me. Thank you all so much
